This is a three-side-seal flat pouch. Four seals close the pouch on both sides and at the top and bottom, leaving a flat, rectangular pack with no base gusset. It is built from food-grade flexible laminates. Typical structures include PET/AL/PE for high moisture and oxygen barrier, PET/NY/PE for toughness and puncture resistance, and kraft paper laminates for a natural look. Mono-material PE and PP recyclable options and PLA/PBS compostable options are also available. Thickness is set by the laminate and barrier target, not by a fixed gauge. The pouch protects dry, solid products from moisture, oxygen and light during storage and transport.
The format suits horizontal filling lines and stacks efficiently in retail cartons. Sealing needs clean, flat seal bars and controlled temperature, pressure and dwell time; product in the seal area causes leaks. A tear notch gives clean opening. A zipper is not typical on a flat three-side-seal pouch but can be added for some single-serve formats. A window works well for cereal bars and snacks where product visibility matters. A valve is not needed because the pack holds no degassing product. A spout does not fit this flat format. Choose a foil laminate when shelf life beyond 6 to 9 months is required. Choose mono-PE recyclable when the barrier demand is moderate and recyclability is a priority; mono-PE gives shorter shelf life than foil.
