This is a flat bottom or side gusset coffee bag built from a matte film, an aluminized barrier layer and a PE sealant, at 120 micron. The matte outer layer gives a low-glare finish that holds print well. The aluminized core blocks light and slows moisture and oxygen ingress, which is what stale coffee reacts to first. The PE inner layer carries the seal. Flat bottom bags stand unsupported on a shelf; side gusset bags hold a taller, narrower profile and fold flat when empty.
The format suits roasted whole bean and ground coffee, from 250 g retail packs up to 1 kg. Fill on a vertical form-fill-seal line or by hand, then heat-seal the top. A one-way degassing valve is the usual addition on whole bean packs, because fresh roast releases CO2 that would otherwise pressurise the bag. A zipper helps resealability after opening; a tear notch or tin tie gives a low-cost closure. A window is possible but it removes barrier area, so it shortens shelf life. If recyclability is the priority, a mono-material PE structure is the better route, but it will not match the aluminized laminate on oxygen and moisture barrier.

Is 120 micron thick enough for a 1 kg coffee bag?
Yes, 120 micron is a common gauge for retail coffee up to 1 kg. The barrier comes from the aluminized layer, not the total thickness, so a well-sealed 120-micron bag protects as well as a heavier one. If you need more puncture resistance for rough handling, the thickness is customizable.
Can I add a degassing valve and a zipper to the same bag?
Yes, both can be fitted. The valve is normally placed on the front panel above the fill line, and the zipper sits below the tear notch. Note that each addition is a separate converting step, so it affects tooling and lead time. Digital print runs take 10-15 working days after artwork approval; rotogravure takes 20-25 working days.
