This is a pillow pouch, also called a back-seal or fin-seal bag. It is built as a three-layer laminate: MOPP/VMPET/PE or PET/AL/PE. The metallised VMPET or aluminium foil core blocks light and moisture, while the PE inner layer provides the seal. Typical total thickness is 80–120 microns, depending on the required stiffness and barrier. The structure keeps fried snacks crisp and protects flavour from oxygen and humidity.
The format runs on vertical form-fill-seal equipment, so the film must have consistent slip and seal strength. Filling is usually by auger or multihead weigher. Sealing is back-fin with optional gussets. A one-way degassing valve suits roasted coffee or products that release gas; a zipper adds reclosability for family-size packs; a window shows the product but reduces barrier area. A recyclable mono-PE structure works when the filling line tolerates lower stiffness and the shelf life target is short. For long shelf life or high fat content, foil laminates remain the safer choice.
